Main achievements in science (1991-2007)

A new scientific branch "Analytical reagents adsorbed on silica and their application in the hyphenated spectroscopic and test methods of analysis" was founded by Olga Zaporozhets at the analytical chemistry department in 1991. Since, the next papers have been published: monographies - 2, reviews - 2, lab manuals and textbooks for students - 3, articles - 89, including 29 in the international journals Analyst, Anal. Bioanal. Chem., Colloids and Surfaces, J. Agric. Food Chem., Intern. J. Environ. Anal. Chem., Talanta, Uspekhi Khimii, Zhurn. Anal. Khim., and 26 patents of Ukraine. Olga Zaporozhets was an advisor of 9 PhD theses and more than 65 M.Sc. and specialists.

   • Non-covalent immobilization on silica of more than 50 organic analytical reagents and their complexes has been investigated. Main factors affecting the properties of the solid-phase reagents obtained in such a way, their advantages, limitations and perspectives of their application in the analysis have been studied. Methodological approaches to the creation of the solid-phase photometric, luminescent and chemiluminescent reagents with designed properties and their application together with batch and flow-injection technique were developed.

   • For the first time the ligands were fixed on the surface by adsorption of the analytical reagents in the form of their chelate compounds. In this way the location of the reagent molecules and the orientation of their complexing groups are optimum to form МR2 complexes.

   • New solid-phase reagents were developed for the determination of Ag(I), Al(III), Au(III), Bi(III), Hg(II), Cd(II), Co(II), Cu(II), Fe(II), Fe(III), Ni(ІІ), Pb(II), Pd(II), Pt(IV), Se(IV), Sn(IV), Th(IV), Tl(III), V(IV), U(VI), Zn(II), Zr(IV), coexisting forms of metals, fluoride, oxalate, dissolved oxygene, silicate, various forms of phosphorus, selenium and arsenicum, hydrazin, anion and cation surfactants, adrenaline, analgin, ascorbic acid, oxiacids in waters of different types, biological fluids, foodstuffs, technological objects etc., and total quality criteria, that nowadays have no analogue in the world.
